Weeds
Weed control overview
Pre-emergent versus post-emergent. Keep products off water, vegetables, and pets as the label directs.

Pre-emergent herbicides form a barrier that intercepts germinating weed seeds. They do not remove established dandelions. Post-emergent products act on weeds that are already visible. Weed-and-feed combinations exist for turf; they still must match the grass species on the label.
Read before you spread
- Confirm the product is labeled for your grass (St. Augustine and bentgrass are frequent exceptions).
- Stay off water, vegetable gardens, and ornamental beds unless the label allows that site.
- Keep pets and children out for the interval printed on the label — not a guess.
- Do not apply before rain if the label forbids it, or if runoff to storm drains is likely.
- Never mix products to invent a rate. If two labels conflict, do not combine them.
Restricted-use herbicides are outside this storefront. If a weed problem is on a school ground, aquatic site, or right-of-way, hire a licensed applicator.
