Lawn products are applied based on square footage, so knowing how much grass you actually have helps you buy the right amount of product and follow application label instructions.
Option 1: Use our free measuring tool
This is the easiest way to measure your lawn.
- Enter your address in the search bar.
- Zoom in or out if needed to clearly see your property.
- Click the Draw button.
- Click around the perimeter of each grass area you want to measure.
- Finish the area, then repeat for your front, back, or side lawn if needed.
- Save your measurement when you're finished.
Made a mistake?
You don't have to start over.
If you accidentally include part of your house, driveway, patio, pool, garden bed, or another area that shouldn't be counted, use Cut out (subtract) to remove that area from your measurement. Whenever possible, draw around the grass directly. Cut out (subtract) is there to fix mistakes or remove areas you accidentally included.
Multiple lawn areas
Many properties have separate grass in the front, back, and sides. Measure each grass area separately. OnlyTheGrass adds them up for your total treatable lawn square footage.
Find the right products for your lawn size
After you save your measurement, OnlyTheGrass uses that square footage to estimate how many bags or bottles you need. Confirm coverage on the bag or bottle you buy.

Option 2: Use a measuring wheel
Use a rolling measuring wheel if satellite is unclear because of trees, shade, or new construction that is not in the photo yet. Measure each grass area separately and add the square footage. Type the total in Enter sq ft on the Measure page.
